On arrival all visitors must register at the Golf Shop. Tee times must be booked in advance on 01623 627403. Golfers must play from the tees of the day unless prior permission has been granted.

Handicaps

Visiting golfers are expected to hold a current club handicap and provide a handicap certificate. Handicap certificates are required.

Soft Spikes

Sherwood Forest Golf Club recommend a 'soft spike' shoe policy on the course from 1st April - 31st October.

Dress Rules - Clubhouse

a. Smart casual dress is acceptable at all times in all areas of the clubhouse.
b. Smart tailored shorts and either long socks or short white sport socks may be worn in the clubhouse.
c. No headgear (unless required by religion) may be worn in the clubhouse.
d. The wearing of soiled or wet clothing, golf shoes or waterproofs in the bar or lounges is not permitted.

Dress Rules - Course

a. Smart tailored golf attire will be accepted at all times on the course.
b. Tailored shorts must be accompanied by the wearing of long socks or short white sports socks.
c. Ladies may wear short socks.
d. Trousers must not be tucked into socks except when wearing waterproof over-trousers.
e. Golf shoes must be worn at all times and golf headgear must be worn correctly.

The following attire is not permitted in the Clubhouse or on the Course:
Jeans, Denim or otherwise, Denim Shirts or Shorts, T-Shirts/Vest Tops, Trainers, Leisure or Walking Shoes, Track or Leisure Suits, Beach Shorts.

Mobile Telephones

All visitors please note that mobile phones may not be used on the course or in the Clubhouse. Mobile phones taken onto the golf course should be switched off and only used in the case of an emergency. For such circumstances the Club telephone number is printed on the scorecard. Mobile phones may however be used within the confines of the car park.

Lightning Policy

a. For play in all Club Competitions and Open Events organised by the Club:

A klaxon will be sounded three times when lightning is detected within a 3 to 8 mile radius of the Clubhouse.

Players must immediately discontinue play, mark their ball and take whatever action they consider most appropriate to ensure their safety.

When no lightning has been detected within 3 to 8 miles for 15 minutes the klaxon will be sounded twice, indicating that play can be resumed.

b. During General Play

The Klaxon will be sounded as above to advise players that lightning has been detected within 3 to 8 miles of the Clubhouse. Players should then take whatever action they consider necessary to ensure their safety.

c. Members and Visitors are also reminded that under Rule 6-8(ii) a player may discontinue play when he or she believes there is danger from lightning.

Players should note that there are a number of Lightening Shelters strategically placed around the course for their safety.
